CuPIDO06 focused on orographic convection over the Santa Catalina Mountains just northeast of Tucson, AZ, from 17-July to17-Aug 2006. The following objectives were covered:
Characterize the onset and transition from shallow to deep convection using surface and upper-air measurements, various ground based in-situ and Doppler aircraft observations and stereo digital photogrammetric techniques.
Advance scientific knowledge on several fronts: Fundamental Cumulus Dynamics Orographic Forcing of Cumulus Clouds Parameterization of Cumulus Convection
