Thoughts on the challenges and opportunities of ecological climatology regarding terrestrial biosphere-atmosphere interactions over the next decade
This presentation aims to discuss advances, challenges and some potential opportunities regarding terrestrial biosphere-atmosphere research and science. Personal insights gained during large scale field studies conducted in the developing world, external assessments of inter-governmental agencies focused on global change research and participation in global dialogues on emerging science and technology issues will be shared. Issues related to the complexity of the increasingly interdisciplinary research approach, the datasets used and type of communication skills utilized by practitioners will also be discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on the challenges and opportunities of moving this type of research towards addressing the needs of the developing world.
