A Decade of Possibilities: Applications of Precipitation and Cloud Features from TRMM and CloudSat Observations

Event based method of analyzing the measurements from multiple satellite sensors condenses the original information of pixel-level measurements into the properties of events, which can greatly increase the efficiency of searching and sorting the observed historical events. Using this concept, a database of more than 10 million precipitation and cloud features is constructed using a decade of TRMM observations. The applications of this database in the research fields of precipitation, cloud, diurnal variation, troposphere-stratosphere exchange, global electrical circus will be introduced. Examples of applying a similar method to recent CloudSat observations will be demonstrated as well.
