A compact elastic lidar

Lidar Design Goal:

The lidar is designed to work together  with the upward-looking WCR from the UW King Air to provide high spatial resolution cloud base measurements, as well as cloud extinction coefficient profiles. Combining lidar and radar measurements  from UW King Air will provide a better  cloud macrophysical and microphysical property characterization in the future.

Status:

The design and manufacture of the system is underway. We are expecting to have a system for ground-based testing by then end of 2006.
